2) As for me, my class has quite a number of Chinese scholars, thus I can show how I appreciate and acknowledge their culture and tradition, by exchanging ideas with them and getting to know more about their background in China, a place where I have not been to yet.
3) I think that school programmes best fosters the development of global mindedness in a person, as it gives us the opportunity to travel overseas to learn more about the people living in an area that is foreign to us, and can understand the activities they carry out there.
4) I strongly agree with the comment, as global mindedness does indeed expose us to a wide variety of cultures and teaches us the different methods in which cultures carry out to do all sorts of things. Not only that, we can learn from how they do things and, using our creativity, invent new ways that will allow us to carry out things with an even greater, more effective result. Therefore, these learning points can be very useful to us in the future if we suddenly find ourselves in an instance in which we may need and use them.

2) Global-mindedness helps to make communication with people form other parts of the world a whole lot easier. For example, because we have Chinese scholars in our class, I can learn more about their culture, and how they do things back home, so that not only will I expand my knowledge about the things around me, but also help them to adapt into the busy SIngapore lifestyle here.
3) I believe school programmes and the environment help to foster the development of global mindedness. Through all the school programmes like camps, we locals will be able to bond well with our foreign classmates, and what they do back at home. For example, during the Secondary 3 campfire night, we watched them perform Taiji, and just from that performance, we learnt a lot. Also, the multi-racial environment in Singapore allows us to be able to mix with people from other races, hence fostering global mindedness.
4) I agree with this comment, as global mindedness does help us to respect what the other cultures do, and also learn to appreciate the way they do them. Through this, we are pushed out of our comfort zone, and our own limits of the way we do things will be push, then will we be free to take a new step higher, and take ourselves to greater heights. This is why a global mindset is so essential.

Ans: Everyone of us have friends of different races and religions. One way of displaying the value of global-mindedness is to celebrate the different festivals with them, even if it is not our own culture. For example, during Deepavali, we can wish our friends a happy day ahead, dress in traditional Indian costumes and celebrate with them. We can even visit their houses if they allow. Also, during Chinese New Year, we can celebrate with our friends from different races, religions and countries and invite them to our houses. We can also do an introduction of the various festivals of each different race and religion to all our peers.
3. What do you think best fosters the development of global-mindedness in a person?
Ans: Students spend most time in their schools, thus schools play an important role in conveying this value to them. Schools can start off with organizing mass celebrations for the various festivals. During these celebrations, the students are exposed to the various aspects of the festivals such as what is normally being done during the festivals. This allows the students to appreciate the different festivals. Schools can also organize a Culture Appreciation Day or an event of these kind, whereby students are exposed to the different cultures more thoroughly. For example, students can be exposed to the Chinese culture through listening to traditional Chinese music. Schools can also take this chance to supply students with the knowledge of the different cultures. Students will be more interested with the cultures and learn to understand and respect. Schools can order newspapers for their students and allot two periods of reading newspapers so that students are able to catch up with the world news and keep track of its revolution in this fast-paced 21st century.
4. Briefly comment on the comment -
"A global mindset combines an openness to and awareness of diversity across cultures. It respects how different countries do things and has the imagination to appreciate why other cultures do them that way. But, a global mindset is also incisive---to push the limits of one's way of doing things."
Ans: I agree with this comment. I think that having a global mindset is about in respect of the different cultures and races. They may do things that are different from us, but we should respect them because everyone does things differently due to everyone's different purpose and objective. Also, we can learn from the different races and adopt and follow their methods of doing things. I also believe that global mindset is about seeking new traditions of doing things and keep changing according to the times. Some methods might be too outdated in this fast-paced world, thus we must find more effective and relevant methods to do things. By doing so, we can do these things more efficiently. Having a global-mindset is also about doing better and better. The world is becoming more competitive. We have to ensure that we perform better and improve every time so that we are able to continue to be in this competition and keep up with the world.

Global mindedness 3A Liuyingnan
In my mind, a culture is a symbol of a country or an area and a global mindset is a way to adapt or even learn something from a new culture. Hence a global mindset combines an openness to and awareness of diversity. It tells us how to get on well with others and get good friends who may be from other countries. In a person's life, he cannot always do what he wants to do. Sometimes he has to work with others who has a different culture. Therefore, though the global mindedness may push the limits of one's own way of doing things, it is still necessary to work together, not individually.

4) This statement gives the two core values of the global mindset: to understand the various different cultures, and to be flexible enough to change. Knowing something is one thing, but being able to change your own way of thinking lets you understand much more.

Although Singapore is a small island, teenagers in Singapore should pay more attention to the world. Vitorians are excellent teenagers, one day they will go around the world to explore, learn and contribute to their country. Hence it is relevant for every Victorian to be global-minded, and actually, global-mindedness is important to Victorians.
Q2
Sometimes, I read global news to my friends, they seem to be interested in some incidents. In this way, global-mindedness in me is evident to my friends.
Q3
I think that environment best fosters the development of global-mindedness in a person. First, one will be global-minded if people around him pay much attention to the world. Second, education, which is related to environment, provides most effects. So a specific environment best develops global-mindedness in a person.
Q4
Accepting different cultures and styles of life is important and useful for one to know more about the world. However, sometimes it is not easy, and one may be affected by this. In a word, it still benefits us a lot.

Q1) Singapore is a country with many people of different races, religion and culture. Victorians should be global minded because we live in Singapore and we need to respect the people from different countries in society. In future, Victorians will have many opportunities to travel to other countries to learn and gain experience from other people. Victorians need to adapt to the culture and beliefs of the country and to understand the different ways people do things in order to perform well and appreciate their way of doing things.
Q2) I always try to understand my friends of different races and religion by learning more about their culture. I also try to avoid doing or saying things that are taboo to them. I read the newspaper and magazines about topics related to global mindedness and discuss them with my friends to listen to their views and thoughts about the topic, understanding them better.
Q3) I think the environment is an important factor to develop global mindedness in a person. The environment a person lives in will affect the person's global mindedness. People get affected by their environments and the people around them very easily. If someone lives in an environment where everyone is global minded, the person would most probably get affected by the views of the people around him or her gradually. I think school programmes are also important in developing global mindedness in a person. When students are taught to be global minded in school programmes, I think they would learn more about being global minded as they will have their own experiences in the programmes.
Q4) I agree with the comment as being global minded helps us understand different countries better. It allows us to gain more knowledge of the different ways people decide and do things making us push our own boundaries of doing things.

Global-mindedness
As a Victorian, it means to have a mindset that is able to appreciate all the other cultures, traditions and history from various religions and countries.
- WHY?
Victorians have to be global-minded because as Victorians, we interact with people of different ethnic groups and background. For example, going on trips to other countries in order to learn and accept the way how others live and their customs. Therefore, it is very essential to be global-minded, as it is a good way to catch up with the world.
- HOW?
Being global-minded can be evident by showing that you care for other religious groups, in terms of helpfulness and also sharing the way how others interact and live is also a signal to show friends that I am global-minded. For example, during the camp, I was inspired by the different ethnic groups I interacted with so I shared to my peers about the daily activities they do and their lifestyle. Also, when there are no suggestions to complete a certain task, having a global-mindset would push me to my limits of my own way of doing things. Thus, I would use different methods, tactics and strategies to overcome obstacles.
- WHAT?
Firstly, it voices down to the person himself. It is his mindset, but this mindset can be fostered through different factors. The school programme is one of them. Having well organized school events like the camp can help develop this kind of mindset as some activities requires one to step out of one's comfort zone and use other methods to solve problems. Therefore, there are several factors to develop this kind of mindset.
- Comments:
A global- mindset is how one must change the way one solves problems when pushed to the limit and out of the comfort zone. Additionally, interacting with people of different ethnic backgrounds can be both inspirational and knowledgeable too.
