3A: Ma Chao Jun (18)

Q1) Singapore is a country with many people of different races, religion and culture. Victorians should be global minded because we live in Singapore and we need to respect the people from different countries in society. In future, Victorians will have many opportunities to travel to other countries to learn and gain experience from other  people. Victorians need to adapt to the culture and beliefs of the country and to understand the different ways people do things in order to perform well and appreciate their way of doing things.

Q2) I always try to understand my friends of different races and religion by learning more about their culture. I also try to avoid doing or saying things that are taboo to them. I read the newspaper and magazines about topics related to global mindedness and discuss them with my friends to listen to their views and thoughts about the topic, understanding them better.

Q3) I think the environment is an important factor to develop global mindedness in a person. The environment a person lives in will affect the person's global mindedness. People get affected by their environments and the people around them very easily. If someone lives in an environment where everyone is global minded, the person would most probably get affected by the views of the people around him or her gradually. I think school programmes are also important in developing global mindedness in a person. When students are taught to be global minded in school programmes, I think they would learn more about being global minded as they will have their own experiences in the programmes.

Q4) I agree with the comment as being global minded helps us understand different countries better. It allows us to gain more knowledge of the different ways people decide and do things making us push our own boundaries of doing things.
