q1) I feel that it is relevant for Victorian to be global-minded because in our conquest for excellence, we must always be using new and innovative ways in which to approach problems and knowing the different ways people use in different countries can help us in creating a better or even a original idea. However, global-mindedness also breeds empathy, as we are leaving in a society where everything is provided for us, it helps to us understand those who are in a worse plight. It also teaches us not to take things for granted. In this highly competitive society where more is done with less, empathy helps slow us down and appreciate the world and also show care to those around us in need. Global-mindedness also keeps us in touch with our culture and traditions that might be losing its hold on the youngsters of this modernising world and with it our sense of identity. We are also informed of current affairs that affects the world and bring about changes and as we are the soon to be working force, we need to adapt to this changes.
q2)I am constantly seeking to be informed of the current affair of the world by keeping in touch through the media like the newspaper or the news broadcasted through the radio. Through my CCA Chinese orchestra, i am completely and deeply in sync with the Chinese culture through the musics created from their traditional lifestyle. One other example is where we exchange the way of living and the culture that we uphold in Singapore with the china scholars and their way of living and also the tradition that they uphold.
q3)I feel that nothing is better for developing global mindedness than by experiencing the world itself where we travel oversea and get to experience first hand how other country function, there traditional practice that they still carry out and their culture. It also keeps our mind open that there are vast difference in our own country and others and not everything is solely about Singapore. We can also be assigned on projects where we have to research on a single country, how it function, recent important affairs in that country, its tradition and main culture.
q4) The whole sentence is very obvious other than the last line, which i would like to comment on: "But a global mindset is also incisive - to push the limits of one's one way of doing things"
global mindedness is also analytical where we have to use the knowledge gained (learning other countries their unique ways) to help use improve ourselves and thus push our limit and our boundaries thus allowing us to work more efficiently.
